This is an ANZSCO Skill Level 3 occupation, qualifying for an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) with up to 5 years duration. After 2 years of NZ work experience you can apply for Skilled Migrant Category residence.

Cardiac Technicians (also called Cardiac Physiologists or Cardiovascular Technologists) perform a range of non-invasive cardiac investigations including ECGs, exercise tolerance tests (ETTs), echocardiography, Holter monitoring, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. They work in cardiology departments of hospitals and private cardiac clinics. **What the work involves:** Performing resting and exercise ECGs, applying and reporting Holter monitors and ambulatory BP devices, assisting with or independently performing echocardiograms, producing reports for cardiology review. **Why NZ needs you:** Cardiovascular disease is NZ's leading cause of death. Cardiology departments at major hospitals and private cardiac clinics need skilled technicians to support growing patient volumes.

NZ Salary Range for Cardiac Technician

NZ$55,000 – NZ$82,000
Echocardiographers and cardiac technicians with advanced echo (TOE, stress echo) or device clinic experience earn toward the top.

Salaries are based on NZ market data. Regional and rural positions may offer allowances, relocation support, and retention bonuses in addition to base salary.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Cardiac Technology, Medical Physics, or Physiological Measurement (NZQCF Level 5–7 or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2–3 years cardiac physiology/technology experience
  • Echocardiography skills highly valued
  • BLS/AED certification required
